The Murphey School Radio Show has three goals:

1) To raise community awareness about the missions and impact of small nonprofits in Durham and Orange counties, and to introduce these organizations to new friends—prospective donors, clients, volunteers, and colleagues in the field.

2) To provide a significant financial boost to the nonprofits through a fundraising model that fosters a spirit of collaboration among  businesses, foundations, media outlets, citizens, and the arts community in the Triangle and beyond.

3) To celebrate and showcase the wealth of literary, musical, and comedic talent in the state through an all-volunteer, family-friendly variety show in the spirit of Grand Ole Opry, Prairie Home Companion, and Saturday Night Live.

100% of your donation for tickets will go to our nonprofit beneficiary.

The Murphey School Radio Show is a project of The Shared Visions Foundation, dedicated to building the organizational capacity of and promoting cooperation among nonprofit agencies that directly benefit communities in Durham and Orange Counties.  The Shared Visions Foundation was awarded a Carraway Award of Merit in 2011 from Preservation North Carolina for the preservation of the Murphey School which is now the Shared Visisons Retreat Center.

The repurposed school is available for a variety of programs and activities that will enrich the vibrant and growing service community in the area. The retreat center includes a 2500 sq. ft. auditorium for workshops, speaker meetings and fundraisers. These events are usually held on the weekends but some weekdays are also available. The center also has a boardroom and a warming kitchen. A fee is charged for the use of the boardroom, warming kitchen and auditorium to offset the cost of utilities and maintenance of the building and grounds.
